There are five (yes, FIVE)
different Hal Chase cards included in the T206
set, the most different cards of any person included in the set. This is
his portrait with a pink background, which shows Prince Hal looking
quite princely in his white collared shirt with NEW YORK across his
chest. SGC deemed this offering worthy of a GOOD+ 2.5 grade primarily
due to the soft, rounded corners, some light staining, and minor
color/paper loss. A fingerprint near the top right corner is a unique
marking on an otherwise beautiful Piedmont 150/25 back.
Although
not a part of the Black Sox Scandal, Harold Homer "Hal" Chase was
permanently banned from baseball after the 1919 season for throwing
baseball games. Chase had previously won a batting title after batting
.339 during the 1916 season.
