A pitcher who bounced up and down over a ten season span from 1930 to 1940, Lynn Nelson was also a fine hitter and often used in a pinch. His pitching though, was fairly bad and he had one of the most derisive nicknames ever bestowed: "Line Drive" - yikes! He died in 1955 from an undisclosed illness at just 49 years old, and is a very tough autograph; in fact this is his only signed 1939 Play Ball in the PSA/DNA database, with the signature in a sure hand grading an 8 on a PSA authentic card.  Some paper residue from scrapbook removal is apparent on the reverse.  The card originates from the Shibe Park collection of autographed cards, an original owner collection carefully collected by a teenage boy who, in 1939 and 1940, obtained many autographs from players arriving at the train station near Shibe Park, and continued for many years to obtain signatures in person and through the mail.
