Spectacular official scorebook documenting an August 1, 1896 game between the St. Louis Browns and Cleveland Spiders at the New Sportsman's Park in St. Louis. The first game of a doubleheader, the Spiders won by a score of 5-2 behind the pitching of none other than Cy Young. Other Hall of Famers in the game include Jesse Burkett and Bobby Wallace for Cleveland, and Roger Connor for St. Louis. The book is well-worn, with significant staining, chipping and edge wear, the brittle paper flaking away and separating at the spine. Extremely delicate, the book does exhibit significant separation of the pages, simply due to the age and style of paper used. However, a rare and valuable scorebook featuring a 19th Century performance by the great Cy Young.
