The American Caramel E90-1 issue is sometimes referred to as the T206 of caramel issues, and has been dubbed "The Kraken" in some quarters due to the challenges of collecting the 120 subjects found within. The set was issued with a stick of caramel that, as one might imagine, led to condition issues which plague the set. This lot includes two cards from the highly desirable set.

The first depicts Eddie Grant with green grass and a beautiful blue sky background. Rounded corners and some light chipping at the left edge keep this from grading even higher than the 3 given by SGC for this example. SGC has only graded 11 Grants higher.

The second card features Harry Krause at the top of his left-handed windup against a green grass background with a stunning peach and orange sky behind him. The colors remain strong and overpower the rounded corners, left edge chipping, and slight diamond cutting which explain SGC's 3 grade. SGC has only graded 11 Krauses higher.

Grant led the league in games, plate appearances, and at bats in 1909, the best year of a career tragically cut short as Eddie was one of the few major league players who were killed in World War I. Krause led the league in ERA and ERA+ in 1909, also the best year of his career. Each card exhibits some light staining on the back, common to the set. Two very attractive cards for the grade elements of one of the hobby's more popular caramel issues.
