Exceptional card featuring one of the most colorful and memorable characters in the history of the game, Casey Stengel, smiling cheerfully at the camera. As a player, Stengel was above average, hitting .284 over a 14-year career with a .356 lifetime On Base Percentage. It was as a manager, however, that Stengel gained his notoriety, learning his craft from John McGraw and applying it to win multiple pennants with the Yankees in their golden era.  A strong, midgrade example of his 1923-24 Exhibits card, the young Perfesser has nearly 50 years of baseball ahead of him here, including managing some of the greatest teams in the history of the game.  Some mild wear at the top corners keep the card from a higher holder, but the eye appeal here is not in the corners but the image.
