Distributed in 1916 by the Ferguson Bakery of Roxbury MA, the BF2 pennants were undersized felt pennants that featured a black and white photo of a popular player of the day. Each pennant measuring approximately six inches in length, the unnumbered set comprised 97 subjects. Gandil, one of eight Chicago White Sox players indicted for throwing the 1919 World Series, was permanently banned from baseball by Judge Landis in 1921. Known as the player responsible for recruiting other teammates to throw the series, the light-hitting first baseman has an important spot reserved among Black Sox collectors. Gandil had a number of cards issued during his 9 year major league career, but possibly none as interesting as his BF2 blanket. SGC has graded just nine examples of a BF2 Gandil pennant, each receiving a grade of AUTHENTIC, as is the case with each BF2 they have graded.  This example presents very well, the image and printing ink both bright and intact against the light gray background. An interesting and uncommon card of a widely-collected player from a difficult-to-find issue.
