White Sox star center fielder, Oscar "Happy" Felsch leaps for a high one in this 8" x 10" original press photo from NEA. While most collectors and fans today associate Felsch with his role in the 1919 Black Sox Scandal, the addition of "Hap" and several other key figures to the Sox in 1915 ushered in a new era of successful campaigns for the club. Finishing 2nd only to the Red Sox by two games in 1916, the Sox then bested the New York Giants in the 1917 World Series and secured the 1919 American League pennant before surrendering the 1919 World Series to the Cincinnati Reds over eight famously controversial games.

A remarkable look at the affable Felsch, the presented photograph bears the unique distinction of once belonging to actor Charlie Sheen who played Happy Felsch in the 1988 John Sayles film "Eight Men Out." Photo presents beautifully with a small chip in the lower-right corner remaining the only blemish worthy of mention. Verso is clean with handwritten pencil notations and displays an NEA date stamp of April 15, 1918. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
