Exceptional 5" x 7" portrait of young Philadelphia Athletics future Hall of Fame manager Cornleius McGillicuddy - Connie Mack. Mack famously owned and managed his Athletics for 50 seasons from 1901-50, retiring at the age of 87. During his tenure with the club Mack was responsible for nine American League pennants and five World Series titles (1910, 1911, 1913, 1929, 1930), while accumulating the most wins, losses and games managed in the history of the game. Photo surface remains in exemplary condition with gentle wear to the corners and edges. Remnants of a paper caption are attached to verso above large International news service stamping and handwritten notations appear in both pencil and ballpoint. This example is fresh to the hobby, originating from the archives of Photo File, Inc. where it has been stored for several decades until this offering. Authenticated as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
