Known as "The Fordham Flash," speedy 21-year-old Frankie Frisch was a standout athlete at New York City's Fordham University. Recruited by John McGraw in 1919, Frisch would leave his mark on the game by helping the Giants to capture four consecutive National League pennants and two World Series championships between 1921-24. Later, the slick-fielding Frisch would guide the "Gashouse Gang" Cardinals to four World Series appearances between 1928-34, winning both the 1931 and 1934 Fall Classics while acting as player-manager for the '34 club. Along with Mickey Cochrane, Lefty Grove, and Carl Hubbell, Frisch would be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on July 21, 1947. A snapshot-style photograph, the presented image features a confident Frisch posing for a cameraman c.1921 as the Giants were set to appear in four succesive World Series against the New York Yankees. Photo remains very clean throughout and displays blue Clinton Photo Service credit stamping on verso. Measures 3.75" x 5". Authenticated as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
