US Olympic swimmer and member of the International Swimming Hall of Fame, Charlotte Boyle prepares to compete in this original 5" x 7" glass plate negative. Boyle represented the United States in the women's 100m freestyle at the 1920 Summer Olympics and at one time held world records in both 200m and 220m events. She also earned eight U.S. National Championships between the 50m and 5 mile distances. Negative glass appears to be fully intact with clean emulsion layer and is capable creating a high-quality positive image.
