Intruiging Memorial Stadium stub from June 7, 1942. One day prior, the American League and National League All-Stars faced off at the Polo Grounds for the major league All-Star Game with the AL emerging as 3-1 victors. Following the game, the American League squad traveled to Cleveland where they would face a team comprised of "Service All-Stars" - players who had enlisted in military service in support of the war effort. Starting pitcher for the Service All-Stars? Future Hall of Famer, Bob Feller. The presented stub granted the bearer entry to this game which was reported to have drawn 62,097 fans. All proceeds were donated to the Army-Navy Relief Fund. Stub presents quite well with typical light wear to corners and edges. A handwritten notation appears on reverse, indicating the date of the game.
