Red Man Tobacco issued four colorful sets from 1952-55, notable for players selected by legendary Sporting News editor J.G. Taylor Spink, unique illustrations and devilish bottom tabs redeemable for a baseball cap that have resulted in seventy years' worth of mangled cards! These were almost the last U.S. tobacco cards to boot.
Offered here is Brooklyn Dodgers Captain and Hall-of-Famer Pee Wee Reese, with the all important bottom tab intact, in a PSA 5 holder. Honest corner wear defines the grade, with the stunning red background giving some serious oomph to Pee-Wee's portrait. Read along with the amusingly-period text on the reverse and do the math on what that "free" baseball cap would run you back in 1952!
