Portrait image of infamously corrupt bad-boy of baseball, Hal Chase as shot by the Brown Brothers news photo service, likely in 1910. This large press photo captures the man during the middle of his tenure with the New York Highlanders (1905-1913) before he was traded away to the Chicago White Sox, eventually becoming one of the Federal Leagues biggest names with the 1914 Buffalo Feds. Although developed from the original negative, this example was created sometime during the 1930's, landing it as a Type 2 photo on PSA's authentication scale. There is a faint crease on the left side of that can only be spotted by tilting the photo towards a light source. There is also creasing present to the lower left corner that remains within the white border. Hal Chase's name has been written in ballpoint below the image and small pieces of paper remnants remain affixed to verso in the corners. Verso displays two different Brown Brothers stamps at center, identifying them as the issuing service. Measures 8" x 10". Encapsulated as a Type 2 photo by PSA/DNA.
