E135 is a large west coast issued set from a maker that specialized in Pacific Coast League cards. Except for their "Baseball's Hall of Fame", which this card hails from, the other Collins-McCarthy releases all featured PCL players. Not so here, as 200 subjects from the AL and NL are in the set, which was released at a time when few comprehensive issues came out. It shares some photos with the later E121 set and the much-later E126 issue, both from American Caramel, but E135 came first.
The card of Hall-of-Famer Johnny Evers offered here is a tale of two sides. The front shows signs of obvious handling, as do almost all cards from this series but has a reasonably well preserved image, while the back has clearly been affected by removal from a scrap book. Evers is harder than many HOF'ers in the set, with 9 examples in the SGC pop report and a mere 3 over at PSA.
