As with any baseball season, Opening Day of the 1951 campaign was rife with hope, every team starting on equal footing in the race to the postseason.  Coming off a tight pennant race in 1950, the Brooklyn Dodgers hosted the NL Champion Philadelphia "Whiz Kid" Phillies at Ebbets Field on April 17, aces Robin Roberts and Carl Erskine facing off against one another to open the season.  The Phillies would win the game, 5-2, dealing an early blow to the hometown Bums, who managed just two runs on a 6th inning home run by Jackie Robinson.  Mike Goliat and Del Ennis would homer for Philadelphia, who scored two in the first and one more in the second, putting the game out of reach with a two-run sixth.

Presented here is a full ticket to that game, a strong, VG example with some mild age-related toning, wear at the corners and a very faint crease near the perforation.  A small pencil marking is visible near one edge on the reverse.
