Terrific cabinet photograph of 22-year-old rookie pitcher, Barney Pelty as posed by Kahn Studios of Farmington, MO. Pelty, a native of Farmington, broke in with the St. Louis Browns in 1903 making his debut on August 20 at Sportsman's Park against the New York Highlanders. Exactly two weeks later, on September 3, 1903, the presented photograph was published by the St. Louis Daily Globe-Democrat announcing Pelty's marriage to his wife, Eva Warsing (and we've included the article to this listing for your enjoyment). While scattered soiling and wear is present to front of the mount, along with chipping to the corners, the attached photo remains in superb overall condition with a clean surface. Verso is blank with the exception of "Barney Pelty" written in pencil towards the top. Measures approx. 6" x 8" overall. One of several pieces in our current auction emanating directly from the estate of Barney Pelty where they have remained until the time of this sale.
