"The fix is on," was the message that Chicago White Sox pitcher Eddie Cicotte sent to gamblers from whom he had accepted $10,000 the night before the series began, the signal sent by Cicotte hitting the first batter in the Cincinnati Reds lineup the following day.  That batter was second baseman Morrie Rath, pictured here in this 1919 Cincinnati Reds postcard.  The card has been graded FR 1.5 with an (MK) qualifier by PSA, the qualifier the result of some light pencil writing at the upper-left corner of the reverse.  The FR grade appears primarily to be the result of a small tear at the upper edge, just about Rath's cap, along with overall wear and discoloration on the reverse.
