In the deciding fourth game of the 1928 World Series, Babe Ruth tied his own record for most home runs in a single Series game by swatting three.  It would take nearly 50 years for the record to be tied, when Reggie Jackson clubbed three against the Dodgers.  The record has been tied twice more since, but never bested.  John Walter of the Detroit Free Press was there to see it, courtesy of this Sportsman's Park press pass which was good for both Game 3 and 4 between the Yankees and St. Louis Cardinals.

Walter did not only see the three home runs by Ruth.  He also witnessed three home runs by Lou Gehrig - two in Game 3 and a third in Game 4.  The Yankees took each game by a 7-3 score.

PSA has graded precisely two passes that gained members of the press admission to the game, including this one, an extraordinary component of a large World Series stub collection we are offering.  The Authentic grade refers to the two cancellation stamps in the button-tag pass, which serve as indicators that the pass was in attendance at both games 3 and 4.  The wear is considerable, with significant creasing, staining and writing serving as further evidence that the pass was present at the games.  An extraordinary document of a record-tying Series event, one of the most famous games in Babe Ruth's career.
