Spectacular trophy produced by Dieges & Clust, measuring approximately 15" in height and weighing in at nearly 11 lbs, depicting a figural fielder stretching to catch a ball.  Etched into the beautiful base of the trophy reads "Spalding Trophy," the reverse blank where an engraved plaque could be affixed (and perhaps once was).  The front of the base does contain some custom engraving.  Engraved into the baseball in the center of the base reads "Won By Leechburg Slovaks 1931".  Further engraving along the upper rim of the base, reads "V. Martinisko Pres.  F. Kroll - Sec'y  S. Minyarik Treas."

The Leechburg Slovaks were an amateur team based in Pennsylvania, just outside Pittsburgh, in the Kiski Valley Baseball League.  Though we cannot find a printed record of the championship game, this trophy would service as evidence of the winner.  Overall condition appears strong; a small repair has been made to the lower-left corner of the metal base.  The figure appears in outstanding condition, all fingers and outstretched arms intact.  A highly desirable figural piece.
