Any collector who has participated in Love of the Game's auctions for any length of time knows that the 1934 season is one of our favorites ever.  The regular season opened with New York Giants owner Bill Terry insulting the Brooklyn Dodgers, and ended with the Dodgers sweeping a doubleheader against the Giants, allowing the St. Louis Cardinals to win the pennant.  The final month of the Cardinals' regular season featured superhuman pitching performances from Dizzy and Paul Dean, with a Dean brother pitching in 19 of the team's final 29 games, starting 14, winning 11 with two saves.  And of course the World Series was a 7-game affair against the tough Detroit Tigers, with the Cardinals bombarding the Tigers in the 7th game, 11-0.

Game 6 was a must-win game for the Cardinals, and would be a pitcher's duel between Paul Dean and Schoolboy Rowe.  In the top of the 7th, with the game tied, 3-3, Dean came to bat with Leo Durocher on second, and singled him home.  That single would be the deciding run, as both pitchers shut their opponents down the rest of the way.  The stub is in POOR condition with creasing and overall wear, along with paper remnants on the reverse from scrapbook removal.  Despite the technical assessment, it presents very well, an important ticket from one of our favorite World Series.
