Issued in 1911 by the Los Angeles confectioner Bishop & Company, the set we know today as "E100" was the company's second baseball card issue.  The cards showcase important players from the PCL, with black and white photos of each subject set against a variety of colored backgrounds, with cards found with blue, green, purple, red or yellow backgrounds.  The backs contain a checklist, with five players from each team included in the set.  The cards are differentiated by a notation of the manufacturer on the reverse.  The cards are exceptionally scarce today; it is unusual for a hobby auction to include more than a card or two from the issue.  We are pleased to include a large grouping in this auction, offered as individual lots for the benefit of type collectors.

PCL Hall of Famer Roy Hitt spent one season with the 1907 Cincinnati Reds, but a lengthy career in the PCL during which time he won 20 games six times, and 30 games once.  This gorgeous card features a pale green background with little visible wear on the card front, a close inspection of the reverse yields erased pencil crossouts on various cards on the checklist.  Some areas of light discoloration are visible around the edges, with minor surface wear and very light wrinkling visible under close examination.  Still, an exceptional card.
