Issued in 1911 by the Los Angeles confectioner Bishop & Company, the set we know today as "E100" was the company's second baseball card issue.  The cards showcase important players from the PCL, with black and white photos of each subject set against a variety of colored backgrounds, with cards found with blue, green, purple, red or yellow backgrounds.  The backs contain a checklist, with five players from each team included in the set.  The cards are differentiated by a notation of the manufacturer on the reverse.  The cards are exceptionally scarce today; it is unusual for a hobby auction to include more than a card or two from the issue.  We are pleased to include a large grouping in this auction, offered as individual lots for the benefit of type collectors.

An irregular cut at the top edge of Bunny Pearce's card is the likely culprit behind the AUTHENTIC grade assigned by SGC.  A thick crease traverses the center of the card as well, which would clearly reduce a numerical grade to the FAIR level.  Still, an outstanding card from a very scarce issue.
