In the wake of major league expansion, Topps was facing competition on the nation's store shelves from other brands such as Fleer and Post Cereal in the early 1960's and as a result was forced to come up with some innovative and colorful products, some offered as pack inserts and others as standalone issues.  The Baseball Bucks set was sold exclusively in one cent packs for a limited time during the 1962 baseball season and is chock full of Hall-of-Famers  among its 96 subjects. Designed to look like U.S. currency (a Topps specialty at the time) with a central player image, there's a small pertinent fact off to the left and an illustration of the pictured player's home ball park over to the right on the obverse, with the league and team logo featured on the back. These delicate paper bills required a factory fold, about two-thirds of the way across (ideally between the image and the ballpark illo. as seen here), in order to be inserted into packs, where they rode along with a piece of gum.  The set is plagued with miscuts and the Clemente example here has avoided such a fate but does exhibit the customary off-kilter central image the set is infamous for.  This PSA 5 is free, front and back, of the foxing sometimes found and retains a nice brightness.
