While photographer Charles Conlon spent the bulk of his career shooting in 4x5 and 5x7 glass plate negative formats, he transitioned to acetate sheet film in the final years of his career. A grouping of eight such negatives, measuring 4" x 5" are presented here complete with their original paper sleeves displaying Conlon’s handwritten identifications. Each negative is imprinted with “AGFA Safety Film” along the top border, indicating these negatives are in-fact created with an acetate base and not the far more unstable nitrate base that preceeded it. Emulsion sides of these negatives are all surprisingly clean while the acetate sides all exhibit scattered abrasions that do not impact the images once a positive is created. Tex Carleton, Wes Ferrell, and Charlie Gilbert do suffer from blue discoloration due to age which is common for these negatives. From L to R: Wes Ferrell, Ed Head, Curt Davis, Charlie Gilbert, Tex Carleton, Ed Albosta, Gordon Phelps, Freddie Fitzsimmons.
