Outstanding collection of 25 Wide World news service photos featuring members of the World Champion 1925 Pittsburgh Pirates. This iteration of the Pirates finished the regular season 95-58 on their way to an exhilarating World Series against the reigning champion Washington Senators. Pittsburgh would eventually take the series in 7 games, becoming the first team in history to recover from a 3-1 deficit in the Fall Classic.

22 of the presented photographs measure 6.5” x 8.5” with the remaining three measuring 8” x 10”. 22 of the 25 boast exceptional tonal contrast with three only slightly underprocessed compared to the rest. 16 different players are represented here and condition across the group is superb with the only imperfections of note being a small tear at top of the Ray Kramer photo and pinholes along the border of the Babe Adams photo. Verso of each includes Wide World Photos stamping along with handwritten identifications of the players depicted.

Photos included (all 6.5” x 8.5 unless otherwise noted): Babe Adams (8x10), Carson Bigbee (2), Bud Culloton (2), George Grantham (2), Mule Haas, Johnny Gooch, Ray Kremer, Lee Meadows (2), Stuffy McInnis, Johnny Morrison, Red Oldham, Tom Sheehan, Roy Spencer, Earl Smith (4, including one 8x10), Emil Yde, Glenn Wright (3, including 1 8x10).

These photos are fresh to the hobby and originate from the archives of Photo File, Inc. where they have been stored for several decades until this offering.
