Fabulous 6.5" x 8.5" photograph featuring former New York Giants star and Hall of Fame catcher Roger Bresnahan. After his retirement from the major leagues following the 1915 season Bresnahan purchased his hometown Toledo club (who he played for in 1898) and became player/manager from 1916-18. A rare original (we're not aware of another example) of this Bresnahan image, the presented photograph boasts impeccable tonal contrast. The top left corner has been slightly folded over and there are a few pinholes scattered throughout the white border, with Bresnahan flanked by two crop marks in pencil. There are two unobtrusive creases of note - to the lower left corner and within the top border, running horizontally. Verso includes remnants of a paper tag, along with some editorial notations and International Newsreel stamping. Photo is fresh to the hobby and originates from the archives of Photo File, Inc. where it has been stored for several decades until this offering. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
