An early iteration of the MVP award, the "League Award" was presented to players throughout the 1920's, with the AL first issuing theirs in 1922 and the NL shortly after in 1925. Recipients enjoyed a payout of $1000 each, which inaugural NL winner Dazzy Vance of the Brooklyn Robins is happily accepting here from Fred Leib, president of the National League Writer's Association. Photo measures 8" x 10" with a few pinholes to be found along the white border. All four corners have chipped away along with a small piece from the right edge. There's some waviness to the print which is not uncommon to vintage news service photos from this era. Two modern, white stickers appear on verso along with handwritten notations and a paper tag that has been afixed with tape. This photo is fresh to the hobby and originates from the archives of Photo File, Inc. where it has been stored for several decades until this offering. Guaranteed Type 1.
