A unique new discovery, this 5" x 7" photograph of spitballer Bugs Raymond is fresh to the hobby and originates from the archives of Photo File, Inc. where it has been stored for several decades until this offering. Tobacco card collectors will instantly recognize this as the source image for Raymond's T3 Turkey Red cabinet! Fan-favorite Raymond was snapped by an unknown photographer shooting for the Pictorial News Co. sometime in 1909. This was undoubtedly Raymond's best season in the majors but tragically, only three short years later, boozing and erratic behavior led to his untimely death at the age of 30 years old. Some grey editorial masking appears by Raymond's left foot and scattered fingerprints are present along bottom third of the photo. Two editorial crop marks appear in pencil on right border. There is a very small tear in the top border and a small piece of top right corner is missing. Verso includes handwritten notations along with a Pictorial News Co. stamp that has been covered with a paper tag stamped by The Ring. Inc.
