Jean Joseph Octave Dubuc enjoyed a 9-season career in major league baseball, spending five of those seasons pitching for the Detroit Tigers of 1912-1916. Though Dubuc was a mainstay for the Tiger's of that era, even posting a 17-10 record in 1912 with a 2.77 ERA, he is perhaps best known as the scout who signed Hank Greenberg (HOF) in 1929 and his ties to the 1919 Black Sox scandal. During the course of 1920's investigation into the 1919 World Series it was revealed that Dubuc had been told by Black Sox conspirator Sleepy Bill Burns that the fix was in and to bet on the Reds. Unfortunately, whether or not Dubuc acted on that tip is unknown. Photo measures 8" x 10" with a very small chip present to the bottom edge. A larger chip appears along the right edge, with a small piece of the top right corner missing. Verso is clean aside from a few minor, unobtrusive smudges and includes both Charles Conlon's personal stamp along with Conlon's handwritten ID of Dubuc.
