Charles Conlon captured this rare "action" shot of troubled St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Arnold Hauser prior to a contest at the Polo Grounds in 1910. A fascinating look at both what passed for a baseball during this era and the new box seats added to the lower level at the Polo Grounds that season. Tragically, Hauser was in and out of mental hospitals during and after his career until his death in 1955. 8" x 10" photo is in outstanding overall condition with minor wear to the corners but surface is clean and free of obtrusive blemishes. Verso features TWO Charles Conlon stamps along with Conlon's notations and handwritten identification of Hauser. This photo is fresh to the hobby and originates from the archives of Photo File, Inc. where it has been stored for several decades until this offering. Guaranteed Type 1.
