Joseph Hoover and Sons was a Philadelphia business that produced colorful chromolithographs in the late 19th and early 20th Century.  Hoover began his career making elaborate wood friends, but by the late 1860s had graduated to producing popular prints, constructing his own printing plant for chromolithographs by 1885.  By the end of the century, his firm was producing more than 600,000 prints a year.

Presented here is a lovely example, a spectacular art print featuring a colorful scene of children playing baseball.  Our research indicates that the lithograph itself measures 20" x 16", but is housed inside an ornate vintage frame, to a final, finished size of approximately 26" x 22".  The lithograph is beautiful and appears in outstanding condition, the Hoover and Sons copyright notice in the lower-right corner.  The ornate frame is extremely attractive, but does exhibit some minor chipping to the wood, hardly detracting from the appearance.  Please note that the size or weight of this item requires an additional shipping charge for this lot, which will be included in the invoice and which will vary based on shipping destination and the overall weight of the items in the invoice.
