Despite ultimately losing their third World Series to the New York Yankees in nine years, the 1949 Brooklyn Dodgers fielded a star-studded lineup featuring Hall of Famers Duke Snider, Pee Wee Reese, Jackie Robinson and fan-favorite catcher Roy Campanella. "Campy," the future 3-time NL MVP and Brooklyn backstop for five pennants during the 1940's and 1950's, is captured here in this 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" press photo.
Photo surface is clean and appears to be free of any obtrusive blemishes but three pinholes are present at very top towards the corners. Verso includes a June 17, 1949 date stamp and several hand written editorial notations are also present. Encapsulated as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
