Interesting 1948 program for a barnstorming game between Negro League and Major League all-stars, played at Wrigley Field in Los Angeles.  The Major League players certainly do not read like a "who's who" of the era, Bob Lemon the primary star on the roster that also included the likes of Cliff Mapes, Ed Bockman, Vic Lombardi, Nippy Jones and Al Zarilla.  The scorecard has been signed by four of the Negro League stars, including Jesse Williams (Monarchs and Clowns shortstop who played in the East-West game in 1943 and 1945), Archie Ware (Cleveland Buckeyes shortstop and three-time All-Star), Ernest "Spoon" Carter (pitcher for a number of teams between 1932 and 1938, two-time Negro League champion with the 1943 and 1944 Homestead Grays), and Othello "Chico" Renfroe, then-outfielder who played for the Monarchs, Buckeyes and Clowns.  The most famous player in the game was, of course, Satchel Paige, who, based Eoin the scorecard, did face Bob Lemon for at least part of this game.  GOOD condition with a stronger presentation, but some creasing and edge wear is evident throughout.  An outstanding document of Negro League barnstorming just as baseball was beginning to integrate.  Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
