The jury is out on whether the 1980 Topps Rickey Henderson or 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr is the most important baseball card of the 1980s. Each is an exceptional card, with a photo that captures the personality of each player: Griffey smiling and youthful, Henderson patiently coiled like a snake, a bundle of kinetic energy ready to explode. This example has been graded NM-MT+ 8.5 by PSA, well-centered with strong corners and outstanding image quality. The grade of NM-MT+ seems a sweet spot of value in this climate, a tremendously high-grade specimen not quite achieving the astronomical prices of its MINT cousins.
