Issued in the late 1890s by the National Tobacco Works, the N566 Newsboy cabinet set was a massive set that contains hundreds of popular athletes, actresses, locations, politicians and more.  The 4 1/2" x 6" sepia photographs were mounted on a variety of cardboard backings, many cream or peach-colored.  Newsboy cabinets are very highly desirable, particularly due to the extraordinary scarcity and value of the 14 baseball players that have been discovered.  More than 600 cabinets are known thus far, with multiple variations possible.  Of the fourteen known baseball players featured in the issue, just three depict Hall of Famers: one of Amos Rusie, and two different featuring John Ward.  This example, the "Bat at Side" image, has been graded AUTHENTIC by PSA, the "Altered" designation the result of extensive repairs made to tears that appear on the reverse, with clear tape.  The tears pertain solely to the mount, with the exception of a small area in the upper-left corner of the photo, with is otherwise intact, albeit with heavy creasing in the areas where the mount is torn behind it.  Despite the repairs, the front of the cabinet presents well, as a lower-grade specimen, with a clear image that boasts excellent contrast.
