While the 1933 Goudey issue set the standard for quality in the gum card era, the underrated 1934 set raised the bar, maintaining the company's high production quality while adding design elements that continue to be borrowed by card manufacturers even today.  Foreground and background images, baseball quiz questions on the reverse, even player endorsements are all innovations we take for granted which were popularized by the Goudey Gum company in 1934.  Despite the lack of a Babe Ruth in the set, the player selection is outstanding.

Presented here is a fine collector-grade near-set, missing just six cards (including the two key cards of Lou Gehrig) for completion.  An approximate condition breakdown is as follows: 10% VG/EX, 17% VG, 29% GOOD, 20% FAIR, #22 POOR and lesser.  Approximately 15 of the cards have pencil writing, erasures, or other markings on the reverse.  The set is missing the following six cards: #21 Bill Terry, #37 Lou Gehrig, #61 Lou Gehrig, #86 Lloyd Johnson, #91 Dolph Camilli, and #92 Steve Larkin.

A condition breakdown of the remaining keys is as follows:  #1 Foxx (P), #2 Cochrane (G), #6 Dean (G), #7 Durocher (P), #10 Klein (VG/EX), #11 P. Waner (VG), #12 Hubbell (G), #13 Frisch (F), #18 Manush (G), #19 Grove (F), #21 Vaughan (F), #23 Gehringer (G), #27 Appling (F), #34 Hafey (G), #35 Lombardi (P), #62 Greenberg (P), and #90 Cuyler (F).  A nearly-complete set of 1934 Goudey cards, a fine collector-grade grouping of cards from one of the most popular sets of the era, 90 cards total.
