The W503 issue of 1922 is extraordinarily rare.  Just over 100 examples from the 64-card set have been graded.  The true method of distribution of the set is speculated to have been along with candy or gum.  The small cards measure 1 3/4" x 2 3/4", and feature sharp, black and white photography, another of the more attractive 1920s black and white issues, and certainly one of the less plentiful.  While the cards have the "W" designation, the cards do not appear to be hand-cut, calling into question the idea that these were strip cards.  The cards are extraordinarily rare, in most cases with no more than 1 or 2 examples of each subject having been graded, and most in lower grades.

Presented here is one of the keys to the issue, a beautiful card of Hall of Fame pitcher Grover Cleveland Alexander.  Graded GD 2 by SGC due to surface wear and a tiny speck of paper loss on Alexander's neck, the card still presents extremely well, the image clean and clear, the borders bright and clean.
