American League contract between the Boston Red Sox and infielder Larry Gardner, which called for Gardner to earn $5,000 for the 1915 season. Though the contract has not been signed by Gardner, it was signed in pencil by American League pioneer and Red Sox owner/President Jimmy McAleer, an excellent player who subsequently became a manager, purchasing half the Red Sox in 1912 and credited with assembling that team's championship clubs. The contract is sturdy and reasonably clean, folded into quarters with some age-related soiling on the outer panels. LOA from James Spence Authentication.
