Despite the 1968 season being one of the most pitching-dominant seasons in baseball history up until that point, the World Series between the Detroit Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals was a relatively high-scoring affair.  The key matchups between Cy Young Award winners Bob Gibson and Denny McLain were both won by Gibson, who pitched all nine innings of both games and gave up just one run between the two.  The Cardinals managed only one other win, however, as Mickey Lolich bested Gibson in the decisive Game 7.

Presented here is a Busch Stadium program from that series, along with ticket stubs from the first two games in St. Louis.  The program is unsecured but well-worn, with some age related surface abrasions and staining, as well as some tearing at the spine.  The stub from Game 1 appears VG with some light wear, along with some mild staining on the reverse.  The stub from Game 2 is also VG, with some wear to the corners and edges.  Three strong mementoes from the 1968 Series, including the Game 1 duel between Cy Young winners.
