Tremendous example of a seldom-seen card of Hank Aaron, issued by the Spic and Span Dry Cleaners of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The dry cleaner, which conducted a variety of promotions and issues multiple sets of cards and photos featuring members of the Milwaukee Braves during the 1950s, released these 4" x 6" cards between 1954 and 1956. Individual cards are infrequently seen, particularly the key card from this issue, featuring a young Hank Aaron, considered one of Aaron's rookie cards. The card is tremendous, virtually perfect in every way, in and of itself an anomaly in this condition-sensitive issue. Of 87 examples of the Aaron card to have been graded by PSA, only three have reached the MINT level, with none higher. In fact, just 13 have been graded at the NM-MT level, serving as a clear indication of the rarity of the card in high grades. Hank Aaron is among the players whose cards have exploded in value as of late, his 1954 Topps card eclipsing six figures in NM-MT 8 condition despite its wide availability (there are 200 examples of his Topps rookie graded NM-MT, with 25 graded MINT 9, and even two graded a perfect 10). The Spic and Span Aaron in MINT 9 has become available only twice in the past year, none since his passing in January. A truly special card, a condition rarity and rookie card of one of the greatest players ever.
